COME out and support the Minor Football Premier team this Saturday as they face Dunboyne in the Championship final at the club.
The game throws-in at 3pm in Pitch 1, with some of the lads playing what will be their last game of juvenile football for the club, having started out back in acorns.
All year the team have done the club proud, qualifying for the League final, where they lost out narrowly.
Many of this side were also part of the outfit that made the Group B final a few months ago.
This weekendโs encounter with Dunboyne will be game 15 for the premier side, captained by William Carr and ably assisted by vice-skipper Daithi Kinahan.
The lads defeated St. Patโs in the semi-final at Dunganny a week and a half ago on a horrible windy night when they emerged on a 4-10 to 2-5 scoreline.
Much of the hard work was done in the first half when they went in two points ahead despite playing into a strong breeze.
But they had to show character when Stamullan hit the first two points of the second half to draw level.
The team is augmented by some of our under-15 panel, allowing the club to field two sides and ensuring everyone at minor level got plenty of football.
We thank the 15s for their help all year.
The lads are up against it with Dunboyne winning all their group games, including a one point victory against Donaghmore-Ashbourne in the group stages.
This meant that Dunboyne topped the group and progressed directly to the final.
So hopefully a big home support will come out to roar the lads on in the last minor game of the season.
The football isnโt finished for the season though.
Some of the lads have already indicated they are intent on going in with the under-19s, who will field two teams. They began training this week.
But for now, this weekend's game is their only focus.
