📝 Tuairisc Cluiche (Match Report)

Our Senior Ladies kicked off the Meath LGFA Championship with an away fixture on a blustery evening against St Peter's Dunboyne on what turned out to be a baptism of fire for our young debutants Faye, Ríona & Isabel. 

Captain Claire Mullen was absent with a shoulder injury and Co-Captain Abbie Timmons was withdrawn with only a few minutes on the clock with a knee injury. This meant Alex Meehan was brought on much earlier than expected and a reshuffle was needed.

Playing against the wind was always going to be a challenge against last years beaten finalists, but our ladies got off to the worst possible start as, right from the throw in, Vikki Wall burst through the defence and put the ball in the back of the net. This set the tone for the next 30 minutes as the Ladies suffering an onslaught of Dunboyne attacks.

The second half half was much more positive from a Don/Ash point of view as we out scored Dunboyne with a number of points coming from Ciara Doherty, Orla Shortt, Isabel O'Kane and Katie Twomey. Ciara, no doubt having benefitted from a campaign with the Senior County Team, added a goal in the closing minutes.

The Seniors are back in action on Saturday 24th, a we welcome Skryne to Ashbourne. Ádh mór lenár Junior D team in their first Championship match this evening with Bective. Throw in is in Ashbourne at 7.45pm.
