The Irish Platform for Patient Organisations, Science, and Industry is organizing a free Workshop for members of the GAA on Monday, 13th November in the Pillo Hotel, Ashbourne at 7pm.
Have you ever wondered is the GAA in our DNA? Why do some families produce dynasties of great GAA players? Is there a link between DNA and Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS)? 
The workshop will explore the role genetics plays in our lives with experts in the fields of human genomics, sport science and rare heart conditions.
Experts include Joe Galvin of the Mater Hospital, who is dedicated to studying SADS, Shane Heffernan of Swansea University, who focuses on genetics and athletic physiology, and Brian Carson of UL, with a focus on researching genetics and exercise recovery.
